Designers and Farmers
“Designers and Farmers” was an innovation project by The Iceland Academy of the Arts.
30 product design students and 11 farmers are given a platform to work together with the aim of developing unique food products. The project was a three year research project that resulted in numerous new products entering the marked such as the Skyr Confectionary and the Rabarbía Rhubarb Caramel.
Many of the participating product designers and farmers have continued on this professional path after.
From classroom into practice
The ideas for the product developments originated in an annual course taught at The Iceland Academy of the Arts. The aim with the course was to deliver a fully developed product which would be ready for production at the end of the course in collaboration with culinary experts and scientists.
