Report: Entrepreneurship in Arts Education in the Nordic countries

Read the final report from the EntreNord Project – a three year project under KreaNord about entrepreneurship in the arts fields.

How do we strengthen the ability and courage of students to apply their artistic skills in a broad range of settings? How do we increase their ability to create sound working lives?

These two questions formed the foundation for EntreNord – a three year project under KreaNord, where arts educations, teachers, management, students, education developers and professional artists as well as advisors and micro business consultants across the Nordic region discussed and shared knowledge about entrepreneurship in the arts fields.

The EntreNord Project was formed upon recommendations put forward in a report about entrepreneurship in the arts educations in the Nordic region (See the report “Entrepreneurship in Arts education in the Nordic countries” in the column to the right) and was run by the Karlbak in collaboration with CAKI (Center for Applied Artistic Innovation).

EntreNord activities

EntreNord developed and ran several activities upon entrepreneurship. These were primarily addressed educators and education developers working in arts education in the Nordic region, and  secondarily organizations and projects working with entrepreneurship for professional artists.

During 2012-2015 following activities were held in relation to the EntreNord Project:

• 15 workshops (one every year respectively in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Denmark)
• Two conferences for educators and education developers working in arts education in the Nordic countries. Read more: EntreNord #1 and EntreNord #2 
• Two seminars for developers of entrepreneurship training for professional artists. Read more: Gathering#1 and Gatering #2
• A digital platform for knowledge sharing: http://www.entrenord.dk/en
• A digital handbook on Intellectual property rights for the arts professions
• EntreNord support for knowledge sharing visits across the Nordic countries (the EntreNord Consultant Service)

In total there have been around 600 participants across EntreNord’s activities.
