COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course brings respectively analytical, an instrumental and an operational view in the following areas:

Culture and Industry Studies (1st and 2nd semester) (10 ECTS)
Tuition is based on music culture’s relationship to and influence on the rest of society, and examines phenomena such as creativity, innovation, art, culture and communication in a historical and sociological perspective.

The teaching deals with current issues and problems, which is set in a historical perspective. The course will further describe and analyze the basic structure and dynamics of the music industry and relate to key players and work within the industry ecosystem.

The focus is on the way from the idea of producer to consumer, technological opportunities and challenges current political, cultural and economic issues with the expected impact on the industry’s future development and the interaction between private and public engagement. The gaze is analytically and instrumentally.

Entrepreneurship (5th semester) (5 ECTS)
The teaching focuses on strengthening students’ ability to combine knowledge with opportunities and thus create value.

The focus is on creating ideas, involving creativity, recognizing opportunities and sources of innovation in order to create artistic and commercial value for themselves and others.

Entrepreneurship is a fundamental element in relation to the student’s career management and the course is aimed at enhancing the students’ abilities to create momentum and value in their own careers in a changing labor market. The gaze is operational.

LEARNING GOALS

  • To possess skills in the culture and industry studies that support the students’ artistic as well as educational profile;
  • Have insight into the music’s commercial and cultural trends and current conditions for a professional work;
  • Be able to apply and relate knowledge of current cultural and commercial currents relative to own professional practice;
  • To possess the skills to create and strengthen his or her’s employment as creative and performing musicians and teachers;
  • Have knowledge about approaches to translate ideas and opportunities for value;
  • Have knowledge of labor and employment prospects within the rhythmic music field;
  • Identify own learning needs and be able to independently acquire new knowledge and skills.

EXAMS
The students will be rated on an individual assignment. The assessment is formative and summative, depending on the examinator and censor, and the students will be rated after the grading scale with intern censorship.
